Frauen-Liebe: A Woman’s Love

Sunday February 14, 2021 @ 11:00 am PST - 12:00 pm PST

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Love is in the air as Music Director Richard Egarr, mezzo-soprano Barbara Kozelj, and keyboardist Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya explore the depths of human emotion in a special segment of Live from Amsterdam: Valentine’s Day Edition! Join us on Sunday, February 14th at 11AM PT for Haydn’s dramatic Arianna a Naxos, a cantata depicting the Cretan Princess Arianna’s painful desertion by Theseus. From there, Barbara will lead us on a woman’s journey through the many phases of love in Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben. And in between, Richard and Alex will do as they do in a beautiful arrangement of Mahler’s love letter to Alma for four-hand piano — the bittersweet Adagietto from his 5th Symphony. This program will be streamed *LIVE* from the historic Schuilkerk De Hoop in Amsterdam!

This performance is made possible with generous and loyal support from:
