PBO SESSIONS: Handel’s Joshua
December 6, 2016 @ 8:00 PM – SFJCC

November 8, 2016, San Francisco – Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale and KDFC in partnership with Arts & Ideas at the San Francisco Jewish Community Center are pleased to announce the next concert in the PBO SESSIONS series with “Handel’s Joshua” on December 6 at the SFJCC.

The PBO SESSIONS concert series has become a popular alternative to Philharmonia’s standard subscription programs. Taking audiences on a guided tour of classical music in informal settings, the 90-minute programs include multimedia presentations and dynamic dialogue from the stage in addition to incredible music. The smaller venue allows for a more intimate experience making PBO SESSIONS popular with classical music fans looking for a more casual atmosphere.

“PBO SESSIONS: Handel’s Joshua” will feature PBO’s own Chorale Director and Scholar-in-Residence, Bruce Lamott, who will discuss the historic context of Handel’s oratorio and compare Thomas Morell’s fictional libretto to the Biblical texts. Hosted by KDFC’s Hoyt Smith, Bruce and the members of the Orchestra and Chorale as well as guest vocalists will perform excerpts from the work.

After the concert, the audience is invited to join Hoyt, Bruce, the musicians, singers, and guest artists in the lobby for a complimentary beverage.

General admission tickets are just $25 and concerts typically sell out.

PBO SESSIONS: Handel’s Joshua is presented in partnership with KDFC Radio and Arts & Ideas at the San Francisco Jewish Community Center and is sponsored by The Waverley Foundation and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. The post-concert reception is sponsored by WineWise Distributors.
