Roderick Williams OBE is an extraordinary artist whose name is known the world over for his rich baritone, ethereal choral compositions, and his reputation as a gifted choral teacher and leader. From Baroque to contemporary music, his repertoire is expansive. Roddy is moved by the human condition and this comes through with elegance and compassion in everything he does.
Roddy has performed with Philharmonia several times, including his rendition of Abner in our 2009 production of Handel’s Athalia, and it’s always a joy to hear his exquisite voice. Music Director Richard Egarr and Roddy enjoy a long friendship and look forward to their work together in the virtual and live spaces.
As part of PBO’s New Music for Old Instruments, Roddy has been commissioned to create an original work for orchestra and chorus that will premiere in an upcoming season. And we are thrilled that he will be the featured guest on our next installment of “What’s New & HIP with Tarik & Rick” on Wednesday, September 30th.
Please enjoy this beautiful musical message from Roddy to the entire Philharmonia family, along with his totally original, unique and beautiful performance of Quia fecit from J.S. Bach’s Magnificat.
