Embodying the Squiggles

Louis XIV’ s violinist dancing masters, Pierre Beauchamp and Raoul Auger Feuillet devised a clever system for recording dance choreographies alongside the written music. Understanding this notation helps us to place the dance in historical context, bringing the dance master’s creation to life through movement and through our instruments. No prior dance experience is required to explore the synergy between baroque dancers, musicians, and audiences!
