EVENT DESCRIPTION
Join Artistic Director of Dance Through Time Jen Meller along with PBO violinist Carla Moore in our latest Up on the Downbeat event—a series dedicated to exploring the synthesis of music and dance throughout history. Grab a floppy hat and a slapstick to find your inner “Harlequin”—the mischievous, irreverent character from the Italian Commedia dell’arte theatrical genre that was popular from the 15th through the 18th centuries. We’ll check out pages from Lambranzi’s hilarious and delightful 1716 “New and Curious School of theatrical dancing” book of illustrated dances.
