Join PBO orchestra members Katherine Kyme (violin) and William Skeen (violoncello) in A Dué — a program of favorite duos and other gems. Kati and Bill will play some of their favorite movements from Mozart’s Grand Duo in G Major, K. 423, and K. 424 (both originally composed for violin and viola), and William will play movements from the Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, by J.S. Bach. Viewers will be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at Kati and William’s treasure trove of baroque, classical, and modern instruments, and to demonstrations of their historical bows ranging from the 1600’s to the present.

Katherine Kyme, frequent concertmaster of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, enjoys chamber music most of all. She has been a member of the the prize-winning Sierra Quartet and the Artaria Quartet, String Circle, The Berkeley String Quartet, and currently, The New Esterhazy Quartet, which specializes in the music of Haydn and his contemporaries. This season, she begun the Cantata Collective which aims to perform all the Bach Cantatas over the next several years. She was a member of the Streicher Trio fir 25 years specializing in the music of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, and the Arcadian Academy with Nicholas McGegan and Elizabeth Blumenstick which specializes in chamber music of 17th Century. An avid teacher, she conducts Berkeley Baroque Strings, a group of 30 amatures each week performing three concerts each season.

Grammy-nominated cellist and gambist William Skeen performs as Principal Cellist with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and American Bach Soloists. He has served as Principal Cellist with Musica Angelica (Los Angeles), Portland Baroque Orchestra, Pacific MusicWorks, and Bach Collegium San Diego. William has also appeared as continuo cellist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Opera, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. In addition, William has soloed on the viola da gamba with the Dallas Symphony, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Carmel Bach Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, Musica Angelica, Orquestra Nacional de Mexico, and the American Bach Soloists. He is co-founder of the New Esterházy Quartet, whose repertoire includes over 150 string quartets performed exclusively on gut strings. With NEQ, William co-founded the San Francisco Early Music Society’s Classical Workshop in 2012. He has served on the faculty on the University of Southern California since 2000. William currently tours and records with Smithsonian Chamber Players, Musica Pacifica, El Mundo, and Agave Baroque. He is represented on over 80 audio recordings and 30 video recordings.
