We are delighted to share with you a musical message from violinist Rachell Ellen Wong, rising star on both the historical performance and modern violin stages.
A recipient of the prestigious 2020 Avery Fisher Career Grant and Grand Prize winner of the inaugural Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach Competition, Rachell is a sought-after performer, leader and collaborator, including appearances with Bach Collegium Japan, The Academy of Ancient Music, and Les Arts Florissants, to name just a few. Rachell made her conducting debut with the Seattle Symphony just last month when she played and led a robust performance of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
A recent graduate, Rachell holds a Master of Music in Historical Performance from The Juilliard School, and has performed with Philharmonia as part of its collaboration with Juilliard where students come together to learn from and play alongside their PBO mentors and teachers. Rachell has also been working on her upcoming debut album — the entire Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin by J.S. Bach, and producing her online weekly series, Home with Rachell. Of her time with PBO, Rachell shared these kind words:
“During this performance, I was able to perform one of my favorite pieces, Niel Gow’s Lament for the death of his second wife. I remember having a lot of fun during that concert, and the musicians of PBO were very supportive and friendly!”
Please enjoy Rachell’s incredible renditions of works by J.S. Bach and John Corigliano.
