PBO Concerts in the #BigPurpleSquare
Bringing Much-Needed Music to San Francisco!
In a continued effort to bring music to our community, last November Philharmonia launched its #BigPurpleSquare initiative — offering the Bay Area spontaneous mini-concerts at iconic landmarks! These programs are meant to serve as little bursts of joyful surprises for anyone who happens to catch them — and all enclosed in a socially-distanced-friendly colorful square.
Our first #BigPurpleSquare concert took place in Alamo Square Park in San Francisco, adjacent to the beautiful row of the Painted Ladies, an image we all know and love. Amidst a gorgeous backdrop of the city skyline, members of Philharmonia brought park-goers a little musical respite — wonderful selections from Purcell’s Fairy Queen.
Following this mini-performance, the PBO members made their next stop in front of San Francisco’s iconic City Hall. Amidst car horns, sirens, and traffic — the upbeat, joyful sounds of Purcell’s Fairy Queen made for a fantastic contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city.
Enjoy these Concerts in the #BigPurpleSquare — and keep an eye out for the purple square and our musicians around the Bay Area!
