Music Director Richard Egarr invites you to join him for “From the Kitchen Table with Richard” — a little show ‘n’ tell on the latest trends and ideas in “H.I.P.” (historically-informed performance). Each of these get-togethers will highlight one aspect of H.I.P. and how attitudes have changed (or NOT!) since the advent of the ‘modern’ early music revival roughly 60 years ago.
Episode #1 – “Delving into Dusty Old Discs”: A first glimpse into the massive topic of historical recordings and how they inform historical performance. What can we learn and take away from the vast repository of recorded sound that captures performers born as far back as 1824?! Join us to find out!
