Two enchanted garlands test the faithfulness of young lovers in Rameau’s La Guirlande, a work of playful charm and lyrical beauty. Handel’s Dixit Dominus takes a different path, unleashing breathtaking choral power. Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale bring these contrasts to life on period instruments and with historically informed style, recreating the vibrant sound world of the 18th century. With Music Director Emeritus Nicholas McGegan’s infectious energy at the podium and soloists Nola Richardson (soprano) and Aaron Sheehan (tenor), this program is filled with Baroque drama and variety.
