Inside Baroque Adult Education Class 2: Orchestral Music

Wednesday September 23 @ 6:30 pm PDT - 8:00 pm PDT

Join us for four evenings of listening and discovery as Philharmonia’s program notes annotator Scott Foglesong offers a practical introduction to the music, the composers, and the ideas and stories behind it.

Class 2: The Baroque Era gave us the orchestra in its earliest incarnations, thanks to that newfangled invention, opera, which required an accompanying ensemble. Baroque orchestral music runs from the refined and elegant (Corelli) to vibrant and innovative (Vivaldi) to profound and heartfelt (Bach) to expertly-crafted and sometimes even spectacular (Handel).
