Philharmonia is thrilled to bring you a very special surprise release! Experience the breathtaking excitement of Handel’s Aci, Galatea e Polifemo this Friday, September 25th at 8PM PT featuring superstars countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, soprano Lauren Snouffer and bass-baritone Davóne Tines led by Music Director Laureate Nicholas McGegan with the Philharmonia Baroque Chamber Players.
Following its New York debut in 2017, this beautiful, haunting, and gender-bending operatic production made its West Coast debut this past January with a Gala premiere and seven sold out performances. “Aci” was co-produced by National Sawdust in Brooklyn, Anthony Roth Costanzo and Cath Brittan, and Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale. This harrowingly intimate re-imagination was voted “Best Opera of 2019/20” by San Francisco Classical Voice!
Get ready for Friday’s release with a sneak peek video of this groundbreaking opera.
