Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra mourns the loss of Ted Savetnick, who served as the organization’s bookkeeper for several years, faithfully tending to the financial heartbeat of the ensemble behind the scenes. Ted passed away in December 2025.
A graduate of UC Berkeley, Ted began his career with one of the “Big 8” accounting firms before spending 24 years in financial reporting for three Fortune 500 companies in San Francisco. In 1986, he became a Certified Public Accountant and turned his talents toward the nonprofit world, advising organizations in the arts, social welfare, and international philanthropy, work he continued for the rest of his life.
Ted’s commitment to the arts extended well beyond Philharmonia Baroque. Since 2012, he served on the Board of 42nd Street Moon, and since 2005 he lent his expertise as an accounting consultant to the Maybeck Foundation, which raised $12 million to restore the Palace of Fine Arts.
Ted was predeceased by his wife, Adrienne. A longtime resident of San Francisco Towers, he was known for his love of travel and theatre.
Ted’s decades of quiet, dedicated service leave a lasting mark on this organization, and he will be warmly remembered by all who had the pleasure of working with him.
